About the role
The Senior Commercial Analyst is a critical role responsible for leading the financial evaluation of projects and proposals to optimise commercial outcomes for Alinta Energy’s Retail pillar. Reporting to the Commercial & Contracts Manager, the Senior Commercial Analyst will work on both a diverse set of commercial initiatives spanning the retail energy sector, and will partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders, and take ownership of key analytical and modelling activities to ensure delivery of business objectives.

What you’ll do
Strategically evaluate and lead commercial initiatives using technical analysis methods to identify commercial value, opportunities and associated risks.
Develop financial models to support business decisions with clear outcomes and actionable insights.
Maintain and improve existing workflows and models, ensuring documentation is updated and stakeholder requests are handled efficiently.
Utilise stakeholder management skills to collaborate across business units to build strong relationships.
Develop and contribute to business case presentations for senior stakeholders.
Support and administer the commercial approval framework, aligning decisions with broader business needs and market understanding.
Your experience
A tertiary qualification in an analytical discipline, coupled with significant demonstrated experience in a similar commercial or procurement role.
Experience developing and running complex financial models, interpreting and presenting analytical results and recommendations to senior management.
Experience using databases, including developing scripts to extract data, interpretation and transformation of data into actionable insights.
Strong proficiency in analytical tools, including being an expert user of Excel.
Highly developed ability to work in a team environment and effectively prioritise workload, whilst also having the ability to work and make decisions autonomously with exceptional attention to detail.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.

This role is best suited to a technical strong individual with commercial or procurement experience who is confident in their communication skills.
