About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our Construction team at Alinta Energy, located in Melbourne. This role is integral to the development of the Reeves Plains Energy Hub, situated north of Adelaide. This exciting project aims to enhance the region's energy security and stability within the power grid, supporting Australia's transition to net-zero emissions.

As a Senior Project Engineer, you will oversee technical workstreams and contractor procurement activities, ensuring that project execution aligns with our safety and operational standards. You will play a crucial role in delivering a reliable electricity supply, particularly through the implementation of a state-of-the-art Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) designed for two stages of capacity expansion.

What you'll do

  • Deliver projects that meet customer and corporate objectives, managing site visits, investigations, and contractor engagement.
  • Oversee financial performance by managing project budgets, preparing reports, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Proactively manage project risks and implement safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Maintain robust reporting frameworks to assist in decision-making and track project progress.
  • Support a culture of Zero Harm by ensuring compliance with HSE policies and taking personal accountability for safety.

Your experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering with 7-10 years of experience in utility-scale design, construction, and management.
  • Proven track record in delivering high-value infrastructure projects with strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong interest and knowledge of power generation technology and transmission substation infrastructure 
  • Sharp attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Microsoft Project or Primavera is desirable.
