About the role
As a Commercial Analyst at Alinta Energy, you will play a crucial role in collaborating with internal stakeholder groups to establish and achieve business unit financial targets. This position involves analysing current energy market conditions, reviewing performance reporting, and conducting financial forecasting. You will support management in developing effective delivery and mitigation strategies to enhance financial performance.

What you'll do
- Maintain an understanding of current energy market conditions and company positions to provide an up-to-date view on financial risks and opportunities, assisting management with effective delivery.
- Lead and control segment flash reporting to ensure timely and accurate financial output.
- Undertake financial forecasting and provide a transparent process for critical inputs in the forecasting and budgeting process.
- Manage business unit profitability by overseeing the daily P&L, translating it to management for risk assessment, and taking corrective actions as required.
- Support senior management in investigating and articulating business performance drivers.
Your experience
- Tertiary qualifications in business, economics, commerce, statistics, or another quantitative discipline.
- Detailed knowledge of financial and quantitative analytical techniques.
- Relevant experience in the full range of financial activities, including financial planning and analysis, reporting, and an understanding of general accounting principles; experience in the energy industry is desirable.
- Strong communication skills with demonstrated experience in delivering outcomes through cross-functional collaboration.
- Experience in providing analysis and commentary to senior management.
