About the role

As a Wind Project Developer at Alinta Energy, you will be instrumental in driving our wind projects from early-stage development to the ready-to-build stage. You will manage key aspects of project development, including planning, environmental assessments, grid connections, and procurement activities. Reporting directly to the Director of Development, your role will be crucial in achieving our ambitious goal of developing 3GW of wind farms over the next five years.

What you'll do

  • Drive wind projects from early-stage development to ready-to-build stage, including planning, environmental assessments, resource assessment, grid connection, and design and procurement activities.
  • Serve as the key interface with partners and other external stakeholders throughout the project development phase.
  • Manage and foster landholder relationships and local community engagement.
  • Oversee project budgets and assess the Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) to ensure commercial viability.
  • Contract with and manage external consultants for planning, grid connection studies, and other key development disciplines.

Your experience

  • Demonstrated proficiency in project development with at least 5 years of experience in large-scale infrastructure projects, covering land management, environmental considerations, permitting, stakeholder engagement, engineering, and grid connection.
  • Exceptional communication skills to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including local communities, landowners, and Traditional Owner groups.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience working with landowners, consultants, and investors.
  • Proactive problem-solving abilities and a solid understanding of the energy markets in Australia.
  • A degree or equivalent in fields such as environmental studies, engineering, urban planning, sciences, or business-related disciplines is advantageous, though not essential.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team, with experience in cross-functional collaboration.
